Established in 2019, Apella Advisors, a business advisory firm, are founding members of Pond Foundation, taking immediate, serious, and credible climate action. In 2021, they began their climate action journey by commissioning Pond Foundation to calculate their greenhouse gas emissions, since the inception of their business. Apella is committed to repeating the greenhouse gas reporting process on an annual basis to determine its ongoing organizational climate impact. Not only is Apella committed to annual reporting, but they also transparently share the findings of these greenhouse gas reports and the actions they are taking to address their emissions. Pond Foundation works with Apella Advisors to collect primary data on their key sources of emissions at the same point every year. Pond Foundation converts these primary data points into greenhouse gas equivalents, giving Apella Advisors a good estimate of their emissions for the year. Apella Advisors has initiatives to address their annual and lifetime emissions, but these will be addressed in separate claims.

Apella Advisors agrees to begin the process of annual greenhouse gas reporting. Pond Foundation sends numerous primary data requests relating to key emission sources for Apella Advisors to representatives and supports them to collect data points where necessary. Apella Advisors sends all primary data points back to Pond Foundation for processing. Pond Foundation calculates and reports Apella Advisors’ greenhouse gas emissions according to the ISO 14064-1 standard on Organizational Greenhouse Gas reporting, using internationally recognised emission conversion factors. Apella Advisors reviews the reporting and shares it publicly.
